Salary: USD 195,000 - 264,500 / annual

As an Engineering Manager, you will own one of Atticus's product pods, reporting to the VP of Engineering. You'll lead a cross-functional team of 4-6 engineers, a PM, and a designer, each pod owning a distinct piece of the business. Your responsibilities include shaping an ambitious roadmap, driving execution, building team culture, developing your engineers' careers, and staying actively involved in technical work.
Engineering Managers at Atticus are hands-on leaders. You'll review PRs, weigh in on architecture decisions, and dive into technical details alongside your team. You're accountable for both team health and the quality of your team's output. Possible focus areas include: consumer product experimentation, intake optimization and ML matching systems, attorney tools and case management software, or early-stage AI-native legal product development.
Required qualifications: 1+ year managing at least 3 engineers; experience growing engineers at all levels and having difficult performance conversations; background in high-performing product organizations with strong PMs and designers; comfort operating with ambiguity and limited resources in startup environments; hands-on coding ability with code review and architecture opinions; serious use of AI coding tools over the past year.
Nice-to-have: experience hiring through rapid growth; proficiency with Go, TypeScript, Next.js, Temporal, or GCP; background in legal, healthcare, or financial services.
The role is fully remote with quarterly travel to LA for in-person collaboration and offsites. Atticus is a certified B Corporation focused on solving a critical social problem.
