Heidi Health is building AI-powered clinical tools that handle administrative work for healthcare systems globally. The company has achieved product-market fit with a medical scribe product and now processes over 2.5 million patient sessions weekly across 190+ countries.
You will lead Heidi's platform and reliability engineering function, owning the cloud infrastructure and SRE practices that support 2 million patient visits per week. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll manage a small team of cloud and reliability engineers while remaining technically engaged with critical systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and growing the platform team; setting technical direction, hiring, and coaching engineers through complex decisions
- Owning the multi-region cloud footprint (US, UK, Canada, Australia, Europe) including compute, networking, data stores, Kubernetes, identity, and infrastructure-as-code
- Defining and enforcing reliability standards: SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and incident response processes
- Running incident response and blameless post-incident reviews that drive systemic improvements
- Partnering with release management and engineering leads to optimize deployment practices, feature flags, canary rollouts, and rollback procedures
Required experience:
- Significant background running cloud infrastructure or SRE teams at scale with people leadership
- Deep, current hands-on expertise with a major cloud provider, Kubernetes, Terraform or equivalent IaC, and modern observability tools
- Proven reliability practice: defined SLOs, enforced error budgets, commanded incidents, and led post-incident reviews that changed system design
- Track record designing high-availability multi-region systems with failure modes, data residency constraints, and DR testing
- Service mindset toward product engineers; measuring platform success by team velocity, not elegance
The role is in-office in Sydney or Melbourne. You'll be part of the on-call rotation you design. Leadership at Heidi carries the pager and works closely with the Head of Engineering, Security, and product leads with real influence over global operations.
