Salary: USD 300,000 - 367,000 / annual
Adyen is seeking an Engineering Director for Developer Experience to lead global customer experience efforts and shape the developer journey across the platform. In this strategic leadership role, you will be the primary advocate for ensuring merchants and partners experience world-class platform integration with Adyen's public APIs, SDKs, and documentation.
You will identify friction points in the developer experience and build tools and content to eliminate them, directly impacting thousands of developers worldwide. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who combines technical depth with strong communication skills and wants to redefine integration standards across the fintech ecosystem.
Key responsibilities include: defining and executing the vision for Adyen's Developer Experience domain aligned with company goals and developer community needs; maintaining high-quality standards across all integration-related products; advocating for developers by enhancing usability, reliability, and efficiency; leading and growing a diverse, multi-disciplinary team across subdomains including webhooks, API quality, SDKs, developer relations, and monitoring tools; driving adoption of common principles to streamline integration processes and improve API consistency; and serving as an evangelist in the developer community through conferences, articles, and thought leadership.
You bring 7+ years of technical experience including significant tenure as a hands-on software engineer, plus 3+ years in manager-of-managers roles while maintaining deep technical literacy. You have experience leading organizations of 40+ engineers. You demonstrate passion for developer experience and integration simplicity, proven leadership in engineering with background in developer-facing products or APIs, strong public presence as a thought leader, exceptional mentorship and team-building skills, and a customer-centric mindset focused on measurable outcomes.
