Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, seeks an EHS Integration Lead to embed environmental, health, and safety practices into engineering, product development, and manufacturing processes. This role bridges EHS strategy and engineering execution by building cross-functional relationships, establishing scalable integration mechanisms, and translating enterprise EHS requirements into actionable engineering guidance. The EHS Integration Lead owns defined integration domains—such as Prevention through Design programs, design standards, enterprise risk management, or engineering workflows—and provides technical and program leadership to technical safety engineers within those domains. Rather than imposing separate EHS processes, this role integrates with existing engineering workflows, decision points, and constraints. Key responsibilities include: **Engineering Relationships & Interface**: Serve as primary EHS contact to Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Product, Program Management, Quality, Facilities, and Operations. Build trusted relationships and understand engineering workflows to integrate EHS engagement rather than introduce parallel processes. Identify opportunities for early EHS involvement that add value to the development lifecycle. Represent engineering realities and constraints back to the EHS organization. Coordinate EHS technical resources onto projects requiring specialized support. **Prevention through Design & Design Standards**: Drive implementation of Prevention through Design principles across product, manufacturing, equipment, facility, and process development. Support the EHS Design Process integration with engineering phase gates. Develop and maintain enterprise EHS design standards, checklists, and criteria. Translate EHS requirements, risk information, and regulatory obligations into usable engineering requirements. Influence manufacturing and facility decisions to eliminate hazards before implementation. Facilitate hazard identification and risk-management activities with engineering teams and EHS subject-matter experts. Ensure operator task, maintenance access, and human interaction are considered in design decisions. **Enterprise Risk Register & Risk Assessment**: Support development of the enterprise risk register structure, hazard taxonomy, and data ownership conventions. Establish and document risk assessment processes (request, scope, perform, review, record, close). Support risk assessment delivery across programs and facilities. Drive adoption of the register as the reference source for design-phase and operational risk information. Use register data to identify recurring hazard patterns and translate them into design standards and lessons learned. **Integration Mechanisms, Tooling & Adoption**: Define when EHS engagement is required, what information is needed, who participates, and what constitutes closure. Identify gaps in engineering workflows and develop integration strategies. Develop scalable processes that reduce dependence on individual relationships and manual intervention. Own technical tooling dedicated to the domain, including analysis, modeling, and design-review tools. Partner with enterprise software and digital resources to integrate EHS tooling into engineering and manufacturing workflows. Establish feedback loops connecting Engineering, EHS Operations, incident data, risk assessments, and audit findings. Track adoption and effectiveness of Prevention through Design initiatives. The position is on-site at Costa Mesa, CA, with regular travel to manufacturing and program sites. **REQUIREMENTS** - Bachelor's degree in engineering, human factors, industrial engineering, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline. - Progressive experience in a design-facing technical discipline such as EHS or safety engineering, human factors and ergonomics, system safety, process safety, reliability, industrial engineering, or design quality, gained in engineering, manufacturing, defense, aerospace, semiconductor, energy, or another complex technical or industrial environment. - Experience integrating hazard analysis or risk assessment with engineering and program decision-making, rather than after-the-fact compliance work. - Demonstrated experience embedding a staff function into an engineering or product development organization, building the engagement model rather than only participating in one. - Demonstrated experience authoring or owning technical standards, design criteria, or equivalent governing documents used by engineers outside your own team. - Strong facilitation, technical writing, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to translate technical risk into engineering and business recommendations. - Evidence of having built something durable: a program, standard, workflow, or mechanism that outlasted your personal involvement. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** - Direct working experience with Prevention through Design methodology, ANSI/ASSP Z590.3, or an equivalent design-phase safety framework, applied to real design decisions. - Background in human factors and ergonomics, system safety, reliability, systems engineering, industrial engineering, or another design-facing technical discipline that embeds requirements into design. - Experience facilitating structured hazard analysis such as HAZID, HAZOP, or FMEA with engineering teams. - Experience with enterprise risk assessment methodology, including hazard taxonomy design, risk matrix application, and scoring consistency across assessors. - Experience selecting, configuring, or owning technical tooling for a discipline, including analysis or modeling tools, or acting as requirements owner for a configurable data platform. - Advanced degree in safety engineering, systems engineering, human factors, occupational or environmental health, or a related field, or professional certification such as CSP, PE, or CIH. - Natural tendency towards challenging the status quo; leans into hard problems instead of walking away.
