Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced autonomous systems, AI, and computer vision. The Tactical Recon & Strike team develops small tactical drones (Group 1-3) and all supporting equipment for testing, deployment, and operations of products like Ghost, Anvil, Bolt, and Altius.
As a Drone Mission Solutions Engineer, you will be accountable for the success and execution of critical early-stage software and hardware efforts across new drone products and expanding feature sets in fielded fleets. You'll focus on rapid development, integration, and operations while driving and de-risking strategic solutions to ambiguous problems in partnership with operations and internal teams.
Key responsibilities include:
**Rapid Prototyping & Validation**: Unblock engineering progress through root-cause analysis on critical issues and finding mechanisms to unblock functional teams. Embody an experimental approach to rapid validation of new algorithms and subsystems. Provide creative solutions to test and iterate in representative conditions mirroring customer needs and evolving battlefield scenarios.
**Operational Testing & Mission Validation**: Maintain organized approaches to regular testing and feedback. Create, validate, and deliver test points for various stakeholders across the organization.
**Technical Execution**: Lead from vision and initial design through prototyping and first successful testing. Develop and own surrogate aircraft to accelerate algorithm testing in live flight. Develop systems supporting expeditionary operations, intuitive warfighter use, and modular sensor expansion. Setup trades to explore early designs while working with technical SMEs and Business Development. Operate at the intersection of software, hardware, and testing to craft system-level architecture. Execute prototype and low-rate production articles with subsystem/system-level testing. Support remote troubleshooting and operation of deployed systems. Prepare mission cards and assist in planning flight missions.
You will be a pilot, engineer, innovator, and operations specialist for Anduril's autonomous systems, working in a tactical role requiring persistent, regimented testing that meets fast-paced development needs while maintaining safety.
