Anthropic is seeking a Director of US International Tax Planning to join its Finance & Accounting team. This is a hands-on technical role responsible for managing the company's complex and growing international tax position as it scales rapidly across new entities, jurisdictions, and commercial arrangements.
You will lead US international tax planning projects from initial analysis through implementation, focusing on subpart F, NCTI, FDDEI, BEAT, foreign tax credit rules, and subchapter C provisions. Core responsibilities include analyzing tax consequences of business initiatives (new entities, intercompany arrangements, funding, cross-border agreements), performing technical analysis under international tax provisions, applying subchapter C to entity formations and reorganizations, and defining assumptions for tax models that quantify cash tax and effective tax rate impacts.
You will support the M&A tax team post-closing by developing integration step plans for acquired entities, draft technical memoranda to support planning positions on examination, and partner with tax compliance and transfer pricing teams to ensure accurate reflection in intercompany pricing, provisions, and US international filings (Forms 5471, 8858, 8991, 8992, 1118). Additional responsibilities include scoping and managing outside advisor work, tracking legislative and regulatory developments, ensuring implementation of approved planning steps, and supporting responses to IRS inquiries.
This role requires deep technical expertise in US international tax provisions applied in planning contexts, working knowledge of subchapter C for multinational groups, experience leading tax planning projects end-to-end, understanding of how planning flows into transfer pricing and ASC 740 provisions, strong research and technical writing skills, and experience managing outside advisors. You will work closely with colleagues in tax provision, compliance, transfer pricing, Legal, Treasury, and Accounting.
