Veho is a Series B logistics infrastructure company serving major ecommerce brands (HelloFresh, Zara, Macy's, Sephora). The company is building modern, end-to-end logistics designed for ecommerce, with next-generation technology and vertically integrated supply chain operations.
You will establish and lead Veho's enterprise compliance program across transportation, warehouse operations, and carrier management. This is a strategic governance role—not day-to-day operational execution, but independent oversight, auditing, policy development, and risk management.
Key responsibilities include:
**Program Leadership & Governance**: Build Veho's Transportation & Warehouse Compliance program from the ground up. Develop compliance policies, governance standards, and internal controls across transportation and warehouse operations.
**Strategy & Capability Expansion**: Own the strategic roadmap for hazardous materials and package-handling capabilities. Define what the network can support today and the sequenced plan to unlock new capabilities, including identifying and securing additional transportation or carrier authority (motor, broker, air carrier) needed to expand offerings.
**Hazardous Materials & Dangerous Goods**: Oversee hazmat compliance across the network, ensuring adherence to OSHA, DOT, 49 CFR, IATA, IMDG, and EPA requirements for storage, segregation, labeling, packaging, transportation, and processing. Develop standardized hazmat SOPs and validate hazardous materials data integrity.
**Carrier Management**: Own carrier credentialing and qualification processes, including verification of FMCSA operating authority, DOT/MC registration, insurance, safety ratings, and regulatory compliance. Establish ongoing carrier monitoring programs.
**Audits & Compliance Oversight**: Develop an enterprise compliance audit program across transportation operations, warehouses, carrier management, and operational processes. Design and maintain a network-wide carrier audit program with scheduled/surprise audits, scoring, corrective action tracking, and executive reporting.
**Investigations & Corrective Action**: Partner with Operations to develop, monitor, and verify corrective and preventative action plans (CAPAs).
**Regulatory Affairs & Reporting**: Serve as primary compliance partner for OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA inspections and inquiries. Monitor regulatory changes and evolve company policies accordingly. Develop executive dashboards and KPIs measuring enterprise compliance, audit performance, carrier health, and operational risk.
**Technology & Automation**: Partner with Product and Engineering to automate compliance monitoring, audit management, and carrier credentialing workflows. Support hazmat configuration within WMS and operational systems.
**Training & Client Enablement**: Build compliance training programs reinforcing regulatory requirements and operational standards. Develop hazmat, dangerous goods, and safety training; certify employees on hazmat handling; support MHE certifications and new hire orientation. Partner with clients on hazmat onboarding and operational readiness.
Travel: Approximately 10–20% for audits, onboarding, investigations, training, and site assessments.
**Requirements**
- 8+ years (more preferred) of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, warehousing, regulatory compliance, risk management, or related operational leadership
- Demonstrated experience building or leading enterprise compliance, governance, audit, or operational risk programs
- Experience managing carrier qualification and ongoing compliance monitoring programs
- Experience supporting hazardous materials and dangerous goods operations, ideally in warehouse or 3PL environments
- Experience conducting investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action management
- Experience partnering with Legal, Operations, Procurement, HR, Safety, Security, and executive leadership
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, motor carrier authority (MC/DOT), carrier safety ratings (CSA/SMS), transportation insurance requirements, warehouse safety and operational compliance, and hazardous materials/dangerous goods regulations (49 CFR, IATA, IMDG, EPA)
- Strong analytical skills with experience building executive reporting and compliance dashboards
- Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), audit software, compliance platforms, safety management systems, and inspection/reporting tools (e.g., Lumiform, SharePoint, Power BI)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence across all organizational levels
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, Safety, Risk Management, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Preferred certifications: OSHA 30, 49 CFR Hazardous Materials, IATA Dangerous Goods, CSP, ASP, CHMM, or CDGP (or equivalent)
