Help Scout is seeking a Director of Performance Marketing to lead the company's paid and performance marketing strategy. Founded in 2011, Help Scout is a customer support platform used by 10,000+ companies globally, with 120+ fully remote employees. The company is investing heavily in performance marketing to accelerate signups, expand brand awareness, and diversify customer acquisition channels.
In this role, you will own the complete performance marketing strategy, reporting to the VP of Marketing. Key responsibilities include: setting quarterly and long-term strategy for paid, lifecycle, and conversion channels to hit signup targets; owning iteration of ad copy, creative, bidding strategy, and budget allocation across paid search and display; identifying and evaluating new channel investments (paid social, affiliate, direct mail, OOH); partnering with Sales and RevOps to connect paid spend to pipeline and revenue outcomes; collaborating with content, social, SEO, and AEO teams to align paid and organic acquisition; representing Help Scout's performance marketing perspective in a competitive market; defining the company's presence in AI-driven discovery as search evolves; and building the roadmap for scaling the function over 12-18 months, including headcount planning.
You'll work with a lean marketing team and agency support, operating with a scrappy, results-driven mindset. This is currently an individual contributor role with potential to grow into people management as the function scales. You'll have the opportunity to move Help Scout upmarket while maintaining strong product-led growth fundamentals.
Required qualifications: 7+ years in performance or growth marketing with B2B SaaS strategy ownership experience; expertise across paid channels (PPC, CPM, ROAS); strong analytical skills with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and attribution platforms; ability to run rapid experimentation and adapt strategy based on data; daily use of AI tools with concrete examples of impact; excellent communication skills for remote, async environments; and ability to present strategy to senior leaders and cross-functional teams. Bonus experience includes managing agencies and/or direct reports.
