Chromatic is seeking a Director of Technical Sales to lead and scale the technical go-to-market strategy and Sales Engineering function as the company grows its Enterprise business. This is a fully remote role based in the US or Canada.
You will define the vision, strategy, and best practices for the Technical Sales organization while building and developing a high-performing Sales and Solutions Engineering team. Key responsibilities include leading complex Enterprise technical evaluations, establishing scalable processes and measurable success metrics, and fostering a customer-centric culture through hiring, coaching, mentorship, and enablement.
You'll partner closely with Sales to drive successful outcomes across complex buying cycles, work with Customer Success to ensure seamless customer journeys from technical evaluation through adoption and expansion, and collaborate with Product and Engineering to translate customer insights into strategic product recommendations that influence roadmap prioritization.
Cross-functional collaboration is central to the role. You'll help shape Chromatic's overall go-to-market strategy by bringing customer insights, technical expertise, and market trends into planning and decision-making. You'll define and track key Sales Engineering metrics, using data to continuously improve team performance and business outcomes.
The ideal candidate has 8+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Developer Relations, or similar customer-facing technical roles, with 3+ years leading and developing high-performing technical teams. You should have proven success leading complex Enterprise technical sales engagements, influencing technical buying decisions with engineering leaders and executives, and building and scaling Sales Engineering organizations with processes, playbooks, and technical programs. Strong executive communication, consultative leadership, strategic thinking, and data-driven decision-making are essential. Experience in high-growth startups and developer tools is a plus; familiarity with Storybook and/or Chromatic is nice to have.
