Salary: USD 140,000 - 200,000 / annual
Via is transforming transportation through technology-enabled intermodal transit services. As Director of Strategy and Operations, you will lead Via's first-of-its-kind service in Rochester, MN—a role that requires building operations from the ground up while managing a complex, round-the-clock service.
You will own the daily operations of the Rochester service, serving as the real-time point of contact for drivers, dispatchers, and customers. This includes managing scheduling challenges, resolving operational issues creatively, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You'll develop and track clear metrics and KPIs, prepare analytical reports to improve processes, and optimize resource allocation for efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Leadership is central to this role. You will build, coach, and develop a large team of drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, and support staff—fostering a collaborative, energetic environment where people thrive. You'll be the face of the operation, building relationships with driver partners, customers, community leaders, and local organizations. You'll also liaise closely with Via's senior management and external partners.
This is entrepreneurial work: you'll be building the plane while flying it, requiring adaptability, autonomy, and a comfort with high responsibility in a fast-paced environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5+ years of operations management experience
- Bachelor's degree required
- Must be local to Rochester, MN or willing to relocate
- Proven track record leading and developing support teams
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented, action-oriented executor with strong problem-solving ability
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, delegate effectively, and take ownership
