Salary: USD 320,000 - 400,000 / annual

You will build and lead the pre-sales solutions engineering function, combining technical depth with enterprise consultative engagement and team leadership. As Director, you'll manage a growing team of Solutions Engineers, establishing scalable processes for pre-sales engagements while ensuring technical excellence in customer conversations. You'll represent Decagon as a senior technical leader on key opportunities.
Key responsibilities include hiring, mentoring, and developing high-performing Solutions Engineers; establishing best practices for proof-of-concepts and technical validation; partnering with Sales leadership on go-to-market strategies; engaging directly with enterprise prospects to guide discovery and solution design; delivering compelling demonstrations and prototypes; fostering cross-functional collaboration with Product and Engineering; serving as an executive-level technical representative in customer meetings and industry events; and defining scalable processes to support team efficiency and growth.
You'll need 7+ years in pre-sales technical roles (Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, or equivalent) and 3+ years managing or leading pre-sales/solutions engineering teams. Proven success with large enterprise customers and complex buying cycles is essential. Strong technical proficiency with enterprise AI deployments, API integrations, and production system architectures is required. Excellent communication skills to engage executives, business stakeholders, and technical teams with equal credibility are critical. You should thrive in fast-moving, high-growth environments with significant ambiguity and possess strong executive presence and consultative skills.
Ideal candidates have experience in AI/Generative AI pre-sales engineering or enterprise deployments, familiarity with enterprise architecture design and integration patterns, software or systems engineering background, experience integrating telephony infrastructure or complex enterprise systems, knowledge of LLM architecture and prompt engineering, and thought leadership experience through conferences or published content.
