Salary: USD 220,000 - 265,000 / annual
Legion Technologies is seeking a Director of Production Engineering to lead DevOps, SRE, and infrastructure teams responsible for the availability, scalability, and security of their production environment. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll spend 20-30% of your time contributing directly to architecture, tooling, and incident response, with the remainder focused on vision, roadmap, and cross-team execution.
You will hire and build a globally-distributed DevOps/SRE engineering team, recruiting and mentoring engineers while fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement. You'll own the reliability and infrastructure roadmap for their AWS-based production environment, including EKS, RDS, and related AWS services, ensuring scalability, high availability, and cost efficiency.
Key responsibilities include leading the organization's security operations (SecOps) practice, including vulnerability management, threat detection, incident response, and remediation. You'll define and drive engineering OKRs for infrastructure reliability, automation, and security, and champion observability and alerting best practices using tools like Datadog. The role requires a solid understanding of agentic AI infrastructure and how AI workflows apply to SDLC and DevOps processes.
You'll drive Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD, and automation practices to increase engineering velocity, work closely with engineering and IT teams on infrastructure standards and compliance, and lead incident management on-call rotations. The ideal candidate has 8-12 years of DevOps/SRE experience with people management, deep hands-on AWS expertise (EKS, RDS, VPC, IAM), demonstrated SecOps experience, 5+ years with observability platforms, strong Infrastructure-as-Code skills, and proficiency in Go, Python, or Bash. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
