Altana is an AI-powered platform that provides supply chain transparency and intelligence for governments and businesses. As Director of Product Management for Public Sector, you will lead the product strategy and execution for three interconnected government-facing product areas: Customs and Border Management for Goods, Defense Resilience and Acquisition, and Economic Security and Policy. You will own the product vision for modernizing how governments understand, monitor, and act on global commerce. This includes building AI-native intelligence layers that help border authorities move beyond transaction-oriented work toward network-based risk detection; creating automated validation tools to catch duty evasion and misdeclared origin without slowing legitimate trade; designing a "Policy Workbench" that enables trade analysts and policymakers to move from raw supply chain data to evidence-based conclusions; and evolving defense procurement from one-time awards to continuous compliance that fosters innovation. You will lead a high-impact product team, setting strategy and roadmap while partnering closely with engineering, design, data science, and government affairs. You'll serve as the connective tissue between Altana's enterprise product work and its government missions, ensuring coherence across the platform. Your responsibilities include engaging with how Altana is deployed across varied geographies and security boundaries, ensuring a unified platform architecture, and translating policy mandates and operational realities into scalable product capabilities. The role sits at the center of consequential technology problems in economic security, trade enforcement, and defense resilience. You will work across the U.S. interagency and with international government customers to support the full spectrum of economic security missions—from forced labor enforcement to critical mineral mapping to allied supply chain coordination. REQUIREMENTS: - 8+ years of experience at the intersection of trade, customs enforcement, or border security technology, with deep understanding of operational constraints, data limitations, and political realities - 7+ years of product management experience, ideally spanning complex enterprise or government systems - Direct experience with customs agency operations, trusted-trader/pre-clearance programs, or trade facilitation modernization initiatives (U.S. or international) - Familiarity with targeting systems, risk scoring, and enforcement workflow design in customs, border, or law enforcement contexts - Working knowledge of trade data structures: entry summaries, manifests, advance ship notices, HS/HTS classification, country-of-origin determinations - Ability to think in networks rather than transactions; understanding of graph-based analytics and AI-driven pattern detection - Demonstrated ability to translate high-level policy mandates into concrete product features and technical requirements - Experience designing products for multiple agencies across developed and emerging economies with different legal regimes and data-sovereignty requirements - Tech-enabled mindset with obsession for UX; understanding of APIs, EDI, ETL/ELT, JSON, and enterprise system integration PLUS (not required): - Experience with revenue protection (undervaluation, transshipment, HS misclassification) and/or enforcement missions (counternarcotics, forced labor, TBML, trade diversion) - Experience delivering products across multiple countries or agencies, including emerging-market contexts - Prior experience with API-based integrations, data pipeline architecture, or enterprise system implementation - Eligibility for U.S. security clearance, existing clearance, or prior successful CBP/DHS background investigation
