Legora is an AI-native legal workspace trusted by 1,000+ customers across 50+ countries, including top-tier law firms and enterprises. The company has scaled to $100M+ ARR with teams across Europe, North America, and APAC.
As Director of People Operations, you will own the operational infrastructure of the employee experience at Legora. You will lead a distributed People Operations team across Stockholm and New York, reporting to the VP of People Operations. Your mandate spans the full employee lifecycle—from offer through exit—ensuring every touchpoint is supported by clean systems, accurate data, and scalable processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Full employee lifecycle operationalization: mapping, documenting, and supporting every stage from offer to exit
- HRIS and data integrity: onboarding hires into the HRIS, data entry, QA, and maintaining employee data as the single source of truth for audit readiness
- Contracts and changes: managing addendums, transfers, salary and reporting-line changes, and coordinating with Payroll for accurate, timely execution
- Benefits and leave administration: executing benefits and leave policies across all markets, with escalation to Employee Relations for contested or medically complex cases
- Local HR Generalist build-out: as Legora enters new markets, you will hire, ramp, and manage local HR Generalist/People Advisor-Ops roles to provide in-market support for day-to-day employee and manager questions, absence management, capability concerns, and restructuring conversations
- Systems and tooling: managing the People tech stack (HiBob, Ashby, Ironclad), driving adoption, and automating manual work
- Process and SOPs: designing scalable, well-documented processes and continuously reducing friction and cycle time
- Compliance and controls: partnering with Legal and Finance to ensure compliance across markets, including working time, leave, and entity/EOR transitions
- Reporting: owning people data quality and the reporting backbone for People analytics
You will operate in a tiered People model with clear judgment on what your team owns directly versus what belongs with Employee Relations, Legal, or Total Rewards. The role requires building the in-market HR Generalist presence that gives every employee fast, consistent support, with clean handoff to Employee Relations for formal or legally complex matters.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years in People Operations or HR Operations, including leading a team and building out local, in-market HR capability as a company scales into new geographies, ideally in a high-growth or global company
- Deep HRIS expertise across complex, multidisciplinary system landscapes, with strong interest in data quality, integrations, AI, and tools
- Track record of building and scaling lifecycle processes and SOPs internationally, and moving work from manual to automated
- Strong grasp of multi-jurisdiction employment compliance across EMEA, AMER, and APAC
- Comfort operating in a tiered People model with clear judgment on ownership boundaries
- Operator's mindset: detail-obsessed, systems-thinking, high bar for accuracy
- Ability to partner across Finance, Legal, and IT with clear communication to employees and leaders
- Fluency in English (working language)
