Salary: USD 180,000 - 266,000 / annual

Pomelo Care is a virtual medical practice specializing in women's and children's health, offering care across pregnancy, postpartum, pediatrics, menopause, and perimenopause. The company combines 24/7 clinical care with technology to identify risks early and deliver personalized care nationwide. As Director of Payer Contracting, you will drive market expansion for the Midlife line of business by defining and executing the health plan engagement strategy. You will lead end-to-end payer contracting from sourcing through signature, working directly with senior health plan executives to structure high-impact deals that expand access, optimize margins, and accelerate growth. Key responsibilities include: - Developing payer contracting strategy, including engagement, renegotiation, and expansion approaches - Articulating Pomelo's value proposition to commercial health plans, emphasizing cost savings, access, and outcomes in perimenopause care - Leading complex contract negotiations directly with health plans, balancing growth, margin, and long-term partnership value - Building and maintaining trusted relationships with senior payer executives who can champion Pomelo internally - Monitoring regulatory, competitive, and reimbursement landscape shifts to keep strategy current - Partnering with Operations, Finance, and Legal teams to validate deal economics and ensure smooth execution You bring 8+ years of payer contracting, payer partnerships, network strategy, or business development experience, with a proven track record of negotiating and closing contracts with health plans. You are a strategic thinker who moves fluidly between market strategy and term sheet details, a confident negotiator skilled in complex commercial discussions with senior stakeholders, and deeply familiar with payer economics and the commercial health plan landscape. You communicate persuasively with data-backed narratives, thrive in ambiguous fast-paced startup environments, and ideally have virtual care or digital health experience. This role reports to the EVP of Commercial Partnerships and offers fully remote work flexibility within the US.
