You will lead Tide's Client Engineering organisation, responsible for the mobile and web applications that serve millions of users. This leadership role oversees Core Architecture, Engineering Productivity, and Quality Engineering teams, with direct reports including Engineering Managers and partnerships with Staff Engineers.
Key responsibilities include:
**Architectural Leadership**: Partner with Staff Engineers to establish a pragmatic frontend strategy. Take a hands-on approach to identifying and resolving bottlenecks in large-scale monorepo workflows, ensuring the codebase remains sustainable and performant.
**Technical Direction**: Own the technical strategy and standards for Tide's frontend stack. Evaluate current technology choices and workforce models to maximize engineering leverage while selecting the right tools for business goals.
**Product Observability**: Advocate for systems providing global visibility into product experience across all configurations and user segments.
**Delivery Excellence**: Lead implementation of a modern Release Engineering model with comprehensive automation, enabling high-frequency and predictable deployment cycles for mobile and web platforms.
**Emerging Technology**: Provide thought leadership on AI and agentic solutions within the client-side experience, exploring opportunities to optimize performance, automate interactions, and drive personalized member experiences.
The role requires seasoned leadership experience managing significant engineering organizations at scale. You should be a skilled collaborator comfortable debating technical trade-offs, with deep frontend expertise across mobile (Flutter/Dart) and web platforms. Systems thinking is essential—you naturally connect technical foundations to team velocity and focus on system-level improvements that accelerate product delivery. Commercial maturity is critical; you understand how technical strategy serves business goals and can communicate trade-offs effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
