Stord is a high-growth commerce platform that powers seamless checkout through delivery for leading DTC and B2B brands. The company manages over $10 billion in commerce annually through fulfillment, warehousing, transportation, and software (OMS, WMS, pre/post-purchase platforms). Stord is backed by top-tier investors including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, and Salesforce Ventures, and is on track to double revenue in the next 18 months.
As Director of Learning & Development, you will build Stord's enterprise learning function from the ground up. This is a high-autonomy role that combines strategic program design with hands-on execution, partnering closely with department leaders to deliver training that drives measurable business results.
Key responsibilities include:
• Design and implement a centralized L&D framework for enterprise teams, establishing governance, standards, and systems for consistent training delivery. You'll own Workday Learning and serve as the internal expert on learning design and delivery.
• Own and continuously improve Stord's onboarding program as the business scales. Partner with department leaders to create and update content, ensuring new hires (including those from acquisitions) reach full productivity faster.
• Collaborate with department heads and subject matter experts to identify skill gaps, develop relevant content, and keep training current as the product and business evolve. Operate as a trusted strategic partner, not just a content producer.
• Define and track KPIs that prove learning program value, including time-to-competency, knowledge retention, and completion rates. Use data to continuously improve and iterate.
• Build and lead a functional training team dedicated to Sales, Customer Experience, and Product. Define team structure, hire talent, and create an operating model that scales training consistently.
You'll need 7+ years in L&D with at least 3 years owning a training function or program portfolio end-to-end. Proven success designing and scaling training programs from early stage is essential—you should have experience standing up L&D functions, building content from scratch, and creating repeatable processes with lean teams.
You should bring multimodal learning design expertise (video, scenario-based exercises, job aids, live facilitation, microlearning) and instructional design depth focused on practical application. You're a high-output builder who thrives independently, solves hard problems creatively, and is energized by building functions at scale. Strong collaboration and influence skills across functions are critical.
