NextNav (Nasdaq: NN) is a publicly traded company redefining location technology. The company has developed a terrestrial-based positioning network that delivers precise vertical and horizontal location data where GPS falls short — indoors, underground, and in dense urban environments. This technology powers critical applications across public safety, aviation, smart cities, and enterprise. The Director of Marketing will own the marketing function day-to-day at a pivotal growth stage, reporting to senior leadership. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring creative vision, strategic instinct, and genuine passion for brand-building, events, and partnerships. Key responsibilities include: Brand Strategy & Positioning: Define and steward the company's brand identity, voice, and market positioning. Develop messaging frameworks that communicate value clearly to target audiences (commercial, enterprise, and federal). Position NextNav as a category leader in precision location technology. Partner with Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Product, and Government Affairs to ensure all external messaging accurately reflects regulatory requirements and technical capabilities. Translate complex regulatory and technical topics into compelling, market-ready messaging. Events: Lead strategy, planning, and execution of company events, conferences, and industry presence. Identify and prioritize event opportunities that drive brand awareness, pipeline, and partnerships. Own end-to-end event delivery from concept through post-event follow-up. Build and manage an event calendar aligned to business development and growth objectives. Strategic Partnerships & Market Development: Identify and cultivate partnerships that extend reach and reinforce brand. Work closely with business development to align marketing strategy to partnership priorities. Represent the company at external forums, industry groups, and partner events. Support development of international market opportunities. Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs and Government Affairs to align marketing strategies with federal initiatives. Help position NextNav as a trusted thought leader with policymakers, industry associations, standards bodies, and strategic partners. Creative & Digital: Oversee creative output including campaigns, content, design, and digital presence. Lead content strategy across owned channels (website, LinkedIn, social media). Drive improvements to digital footprint and online brand experience. Manage external creative agencies and vendors. Team & Cross-Functional Leadership: Manage and develop approximately one direct report, with the team expected to grow. Collaborate closely with business development, product, and the executive team. Contribute to company-wide strategy discussions as a marketing thought partner. Serve as marketing liaison across multiple departments. Success requires appreciation for the unique regulatory, public policy, and federal landscape in which NextNav operates.
