Boulevard is a client experience platform for appointment-based self-care businesses (salons, spas, medspa, barbershops). Founded in 2016, the company empowers customers to deliver exceptional experiences through modern, user-friendly software.
You will lead Boulevard's data engineering function as Director of Engineering, Data, reporting to the SVP of Engineering. This is a foundational leadership role responsible for building and scaling the technical infrastructure that powers the company's data ecosystem, analytics, and machine learning capabilities.
Key responsibilities include:
**Data Infrastructure & Platform**: Design and maintain scalable, reliable data pipelines and infrastructure using modern tools (dbt, Airflow, streaming platforms). Build systems that support real-time and batch processing for various use cases.
**Data Products**: Partner with product management, product engineering, and insights teams to power customer-facing reporting dashboards, analytics features, and data-driven experiences.
**Data Governance & Quality**: Establish frameworks for data integrity, lineage tracking, and comprehensive quality monitoring. Implement governance policies that enable safe, efficient data access across teams.
**Security & Compliance**: Ensure data protection, access controls, and regulatory compliance (including HIPAA). Strengthen security posture across all data systems.
**ML/AI Platform**: Provide the foundational infrastructure and standards for machine learning and AI capabilities, including model training, deployment, and monitoring.
**Team Leadership**: Build and lead a high-impact team of data engineers with a mandate to grow and scale the organization. Mentor engineers and establish technical standards.
**Strategic Impact**: Shape how data is collected, processed, and leveraged across Boulevard—driving insights, powering product innovation, and enabling operational excellence. Your work will establish the data platform as a strategic competitive advantage.
You'll work on initiatives including modern data infrastructure buildout, customer data products, internal business intelligence platforms, self-service data tools, performance optimization, and ML/AI infrastructure.
