Truecaller is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead technical excellence and drive strategic product delivery within a designated engineering department. With 500+ million active users across 190+ countries and 400+ employees from 45+ nationalities, Truecaller is a global leader in communication safety and spam/scam prevention.
In this pivotal leadership role, you will serve as the primary technical authority for your department, setting technical direction and guiding engineering teams. Key responsibilities include:
Technical Leadership: Establish the technical vision and strategy for the department, shifting focus from feature shipping to business outcomes. Partner with Product Managers to define and track KPIs. Foster innovation by encouraging exploration of new technologies and staying current with industry advancements. Collaborate with product, design, and cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
Engineering Management: Oversee the complete engineering lifecycle from project inception through deployment. Establish high standards for code quality, maintainability, and scalability. Build and cultivate a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture that empowers teams and promotes continuous learning. Implement effective performance management, providing feedback, coaching, and mentorship. Actively develop talent, identify high-potential individuals, and build succession pipelines.
Governance and Compliance: Champion compliance with technical standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Implement robust processes for risk management, data security, and privacy protection. Work with legal, security, and stakeholders to proactively address compliance concerns and ensure ethical operations.
You bring seasoned engineering leadership with proven technical excellence and team management success. You have experience in product-led growth environments, influencing product strategy through technical feasibility and innovation. You demonstrate deep understanding of software development principles, architectures, and best practices. You have led large-scale engineering projects delivering complex solutions on time and within budget. You possess expertise in governance, risk management, and compliance. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to inspire teams are essential. You are a strategic thinker with business acumen, adaptable and resilient in fast-paced environments.
