Duolingo is seeking a Director of Communications to lead how the company communicates during critical moments—product launches, earnings announcements, and growth milestones. This role owns the narrative strategy around Duolingo's biggest product bets and ensures consistent messaging across launches, earnings, and executive communications. You will partner closely with Product, Data, and Finance teams to translate technical progress and business metrics into clear, compelling stories that build trust and drive adoption. Key responsibilities include: • Own communications for product launches and company performance, connecting shipped features to business outcomes (DAUs, engagement, revenue) • Lead earnings communications and major company announcements; shape narratives, coordinate with IR and Finance, ensure consistency across press, executive messaging, and owned channels • Drive end-to-end product communications from story conception through launch execution and post-launch momentum • Translate complex topics (AI, efficacy, monetization) into simple, credible narratives with clear proof points • Build repeatable systems and messaging frameworks for launches and earnings cycles • Prepare executives for high-stakes communications moments (earnings calls, major interviews, product announcements) • Anticipate and manage issues around product changes, AI, efficacy, and monetization • Define success metrics focused on message pull-through, narrative clarity, and impact on trust and growth • Manage external agencies and partners to execute at a high standard You bring 5+ years of communications experience, with strong track records in product communications and/or corporate/financial communications at high-growth tech companies. You excel at identifying signal in roadmaps and datasets, turning product work into differentiated stories that get picked up and understood. You have experience supporting earnings processes, preparing executives for high-stakes moments, and working cross-functionally with Product, Data, Marketing, and Finance. Exceptional candidates will have backgrounds in product-led, experimentation-heavy companies; experience with AI or technical product storytelling; direct earnings communications ownership; or backgrounds in edtech or consumer subscription products.
