As Director of AI Engineering, you will lead the company's AI transformation initiative as a hands-on technical leader. This is not an advisory role—you will personally design, build, and deploy AI-native systems that remove operational waste across the organization. You will write production code, architect agentic systems, and own systems running live across business functions.
You will manage a small pod of 2-4 engineers embedded with business teams (supplier onboarding, clinician activation, sales, finance, support), shipping AI-first solutions and ensuring teams can maintain systems after handoff. Your impact is measured in throughput and leverage gained by internal functions.
Key responsibilities include: designing and deploying end-to-end agentic solutions from problem scoping through production code and testing; owning the AI automation roadmap by identifying and prioritizing high-leverage opportunities; leading the pod as a player-coach while staying hands-on in the work; conducting discovery with internal teams to map workflows and design AI-first processes; and influencing company-wide decisions on AI models, orchestration frameworks, and tooling.
You bring strong software engineering fundamentals (system design, APIs, full SDLC), hands-on experience with RAG pipelines, vector databases, LLM orchestration (LangChain, LangGraph), voice-agent infrastructure, MCP, and multi-agent coordination. You have personally built and deployed AI systems that drove measurable operational outcomes. You ship meaningful systems quickly using modern AI coding tools, communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders, and have experience building and leading small, high-output technical teams.
