Salary: USD 170,000 - 200,000 / annual
Quip is seeking a Director of Accounting to lead the accounting team and oversee all aspects of financial reporting, inventory accounting, treasury, compliance, and tax management. This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-growing consumer products company focused on oral health.
Key responsibilities include managing the annual financial statement audit process with external auditors, directly preparing and reviewing financial statements in accordance with GAAP, and maintaining strong internal controls. You will oversee ABL compliance, including preparation of borrowing base certificates and management of inventory/AR collateral reporting.
On the operations side, you will lead and mentor the accounting team while remaining deeply involved in day-to-day execution. This includes owning the month-end and year-end close process, managing complex 3PL inventory accounting and reconciliations, maintaining debt schedules, and ensuring general ledger integrity. You will also manage revenue recognition policies for wholesale and e-commerce transactions, analyze AR reports, and optimize accounting workflows through automation and NetSuite system integrations.
Tax and treasury responsibilities encompass ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, overseeing multi-state sales tax compliance, managing Avalara tax software integration, and leading treasury functions including cash management, bank relationships, and forecasting.
You will also drive technology and systems leadership, ensuring seamless integration between Shopify, Avalara, NetSuite, Ramp, and other financial tools, and partnering with IT and operations teams to enhance automation.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred); 7+ years of accounting experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role; strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial audit management; direct experience with Shopify and Avalara (required); expertise in multi-state sales tax compliance; strong NetSuite or ERP proficiency; ability to lead and develop a high-performing team; excellent communication and collaboration skills.
