Salary: USD 189,000 - 214,000 / annual
Ibotta, a leading performance marketing platform (NYSE: IBTA) headquartered in Denver, is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead multiple engineering teams and drive technical strategy across the organization. This hybrid role (3 days/week in-office: Tue–Thu) reports to senior leadership and owns the engineering vision, organizational scaling, and delivery of products used by millions of consumers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategies for building a high-performing, predictable engineering organization aligned with customer needs and business objectives.
- Lead and coach multiple engineering managers; manage technical, resource, and personnel issues.
- Ensure timely delivery of engineering solutions while maintaining transparent progress visibility to stakeholders.
- Translate technical concepts for business leaders and business priorities for engineering teams.
- Collaborate cross-functionally (Product, Architecture, external partners) to prioritize technical solutions, define milestones, and set goals.
- Foster a culture that balances technical debt against feature velocity and drives technical excellence.
- Champion AI as a core utility: identify automation opportunities, drive data literacy, and lead the creation of AI-powered solutions for internal processes and revenue generation.
- Define and enforce development standards, security practices, cost/performance/reliability strategies, and DevSecOps culture.
- Research emerging technologies and industry trends; stay current on cloud platforms, event-driven architectures, and mobile/web development.

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of engineering management experience, including managing managers and leading multiple teams.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders (customers, senior management, business leaders).
- Strong agile software development and management skills.
- Exposure to multiple programming languages and frameworks.
- Experience with security, cost, performance, scale, and reliability strategies.
- Skilled performance manager comfortable with diverse technical skill sets.
- Proficiency with cloud-based data architectures (AWS preferred) and DevOps culture.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Event-driven architecture experience.
- Native mobile app and frontend web development knowledge.
- DevSecOps expertise.
Compensation & Benefits: Base salary $189,000–$214,000 plus variable compensation, equity, ESPP, 401(k) match, medical/dental/vision, flexible PTO, paid parking, and office perks. Relocation assistance available. Must be authorized to work in the US full-time.
