This Diagnostic Specialist role is a field-based position covering the Western US region (WA, OR, NV, UT, AZ, MT, Northern CA), reporting to the diagnostic leadership team. The Diagnostic Specialist serves as a regional diagnostic leader responsible for educating healthcare providers on genetic testing initiatives and programs, with deep expertise in inherited retinal disease (IRD) diagnostics. Key responsibilities include: **Genotyping & Diagnostic Leadership**: Educate healthcare providers on genetic testing to drive awareness of sponsored testing programs. Identify educational needs within the IRD community and provide guidance on genetic labs, IRD panels, and accurate result interpretation. **Cross-Functional Collaboration**: Partner with internal client teams to develop and implement US diagnostic strategy, ensuring compliance across all initiatives. **Stakeholder Education & Advocacy**: Identify and engage Genetic Testing Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) with educational needs. Attend industry conferences, participate in compliant advocacy and outreach with local organizations, and deliver high-quality education to HCPs and partner labs. Provide expertise on IRD gene panels and best practices for test requisition forms. **Requirements**: BA/BS required; healthcare degree strongly preferred (MS, RN, PA, PharmD, PhD). Minimum 7+ years pharma/biotech experience in commercial, clinical/medical, or diagnostics. Proven success in high-performing, diverse teams with experience collaborating with KOLs, labs, and stakeholders. Prior rare/ultra-rare disease experience with strong patient focus preferred. Must demonstrate diagnostic and scientific acumen, strategic thinking, and operational capability. Excellent communication and presentation skills required. Knowledge of ophthalmology strongly preferred. Extensive travel required across the region; candidates should live near a major airport hub. Must be comfortable with modern electronic hardware and AI tools (Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.).
