Buildkite is a CI/CD platform trusted by leading engineering teams including Canva, Meta, Mistral AI, and NVIDIA. As Developer Events Lead, you will own the end-to-end strategy, execution, and measurement of Buildkite's developer events program, starting with a focus on the Bay Area with opportunity to expand globally.
You will shape where and how Buildkite engages the developer community—from major conferences and meetups to workshops, sponsorships, and proprietary events. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on execution. You'll define the events strategy, build a framework for measuring ROI and business impact, create scalable operational playbooks, and own flagship events from conception through post-event analysis.
Key responsibilities include: developing a clear events strategy aligned with GTM and sales goals; building vendor relationships and budgets to support a repeatable, high-quality program; experimenting with new event formats and community programs; representing Buildkite to customers, partners, and industry stakeholders; and using data to continuously refine the program. You'll work closely with Marketing, Sales, GTM, and Brand teams, operating with autonomy to identify opportunities, make investment cases, and drive meaningful business and community outcomes.
Ideal candidates have led events, community, or field marketing strategies; built scalable programs and systems; worked autonomously in ambiguous environments; measured event success beyond attendance (connecting to pipeline and revenue); and have authentic relationships within developer communities. Experience with developer relations, ABM, intent data, or attribution frameworks is a plus. The role offers flexibility to work from anywhere globally, with 20 days annual leave, parental leave support, and remote-work allowances.
