Synthesia is the world's leading AI video platform for business, used by over 90% of the Fortune 100. The company is headquartered in London with offices across Europe and the US, and recently raised $200 million in Series E funding at a $4 billion valuation.
As the first Developer Evangelist, you will be the primary voice and face of Synthesia's API to the developer community. This is a hybrid technical and storytelling role that combines hands-on coding with community building and advocacy.
You will create technical content that developers actually use—blog posts, tutorials, how-to guides, sample apps, starter kits, and code snippets across common languages and frameworks. You'll produce video walkthroughs and livestreams using Synthesia's own product, maintaining a fast and consistent cadence of output.
You'll represent Synthesia at conferences, meetups, hackathons, and webinars as a speaker and workshop host. You'll run livestreams and community AMAs focused on real implementation questions, build relationships with developers and technical influencers, and travel as needed to be present in key communities.
You must be genuinely hands-on with the Synthesia API—building things yourself, debugging alongside developers, and speaking with authority. You'll earn trust by being useful before asking for anything in return, playing the long game in developer communities.
You'll also close the loop with product by channeling developer feedback, friction points, and feature requests back to Product and Engineering. You'll partner with Developer Support to identify rough edges in the API and help prioritize the developer experience roadmap.
Finally, you'll grow and nurture channels—Discord/Slack community, developer newsletter, social—where developers can find each other and get help. You'll identify and cultivate community advocates and early power users who can become case studies or co-speakers, and measure what's working through content engagement, API sign-ups, community growth, and sentiment.
The ideal candidate has experience in developer relations, developer advocacy, or technical evangelism at a platform, API-first, or infrastructure company. You're genuinely hands-on with code and APIs, a strong communicator across written, live, and stage formats, comfortable with regular travel and public speaking, and have a track record of sustained content output. You listen as much as you broadcast and operate autonomously in a fast-moving function. Bonus: existing credibility in developer communities around video, AI/ML, automation, or enterprise software.
