Datadog is seeking a Developer Advocate for Service Management to serve as a subject matter expert bridging the company's product and engineering teams with the broader SRE, DevOps, and operations community. You will create compelling content across multiple mediums—including demos, blog posts, conference talks, webinars, documentation, and open-source contributions—to establish Datadog as a thought leader in observability, incident response, and service management. Key responsibilities include acting as a technical authority on service management practices (incident response, on-call management, IDP, workflow automation, and operational automation); partnering with product engineering teams to develop and deliver compelling demos; coaching internal teams on effective communication and presentation; engaging with open-source communities to drive market messaging and develop new integrations; and contributing directly to the product through feedback, documentation, or code contributions. You bring 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Software Developer, with direct experience responding to incidents and managing production systems in complex environments. You have deep knowledge of service-management practices and tools (Datadog, PagerDuty, Opsgenie, incident.io, Rootly, Jira, Cortex, or similar) and understand how to navigate operational challenges across organizations of different sizes. You also have 2+ years of experience creating compelling technical content through writing, conference speaking (SREcon, DevOpsDays, SREday), workshops, live streaming, video production, or open-source contributions. You maintain publicly available writing samples, blog posts, demos, or presentation recordings. You are comfortable with at least one scripting or programming language (Node.js, Python, Go, bash), familiar with APIs and modern infrastructure (IaaS, containers), and enjoy self-directed learning on emerging technologies. Bonus qualifications include hands-on ITSM platform experience (ServiceNow, Jira Service Management) and active participation in SRE, DevOps, or incident-response communities.
