STOKE Space is building Nova, a fully reusable launch vehicle designed for daily flight to radically lower space launch costs and increase flight cadence. As a Design Reliability Engineer focused on system safety, you will be a key integrator across the Nova launch system, defining processes and tools for critical safety and reliability analyses. You will develop and implement Functional Hazard Analyses (FHA), Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), Fault Tolerance Analysis (FTA), and Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP) across vehicle stages and subsystems. Working closely with cross-functional engineering teams, you will lead the overall system safety analysis effort, ensuring consistency and completeness throughout the vehicle architecture. Key responsibilities include: developing standardized processes, tools, and templates for safety analyses; leading system-level reliability assessments and identifying novel solutions to improve reliability without adding design complexity; estimating component-level quantitative reliability and determining overall probability of vehicle functional failure modes; communicating analysis results with external stakeholders including the FAA, Space Force, and launch customers; and facilitating cross-disciplinary problem-solving to manage interdisciplinary design risks and negotiate system interfaces. You must be highly organized, an excellent communicator, and skilled at identifying and solving problems in complex system integration. The role requires the ability to stay focused, move fast, self-direct, and learn rapidly in a mission-driven, collaborative environment. This is a hands-on technical position for someone who thrives in the fast-paced aerospace industry and wants to contribute directly to making space more accessible.
