Recraft is a graphic design research lab building state-of-the-art image generation models and tools for designers, illustrators, marketers, and developers. Founded in 2022 and based in London, the company serves over 3 million creators across 190+ countries with a focus on commercial design standards: full creative control, style consistency, native vector outputs, an API for team integration, and a mobile app.
You will own how Recraft sounds across all channels, from tone of voice guidelines to individual button labels. This is not a content calendar role—it's for someone who uses the product daily, understands what designers actually need, and can turn a model release into a compelling story.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and evolve Recraft's voice guidelines and ensure brand consistency across all channels
- Write social posts, release announcements, and launch copy for new models and features across X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Discord
- Write scripts and copy for motion videos, tutorials, interviews, and other storytelling formats
- Contribute to special projects and campaigns with a focus on copywriting
- Write and edit SEO articles for the blog that rank and remain engaging
- Collaborate with product and design teams on UX copy: onboarding, empty states, tooltips, and feature descriptions
- Help name new models, features, and products, and write their introductory copy
- Use Recraft Studio regularly to test new models before launch and write from first-hand experience
You will report to the Head of Content and work closely with design, product, and the researchers who build the models, giving you early access to releases and detailed context.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A design background (graphic, brand, type, UI, or editorial) with writing as your main craft, OR years of experience as a writer working closely with designers and speaking fluent design. Content creators, social media writers, and brand or blog writers who've built a recognizable voice are equally welcome.
- Excellent written English (C2 or equivalent): natural, idiomatic, publication-ready writing with a distinctive voice
- Portfolio of published work: articles, blog, newsletter, social accounts you've managed, or shipped product copy
- Range across formats: launch posts, 2,000-word articles, button labels—all maintaining consistent voice
- Hands-on experience with AI tools used regularly, with writing that doesn't sound AI-generated
- Curiosity about the design world: what designers are making, debating, and struggling with
NICE TO HAVE:
- Personal blog, newsletter, or Substack about design, type, visual culture, or AI
- SEO writing experience
- UX writing or content design experience
- Naming experience
- Scriptwriting for video or motion
- Experience at a design tool, creative tech company, or design studio
