LEAP is a global leader in integrated productivity solutions for law firms, serving over 60,000 lawyers and staff across the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. The Transitions department manages data extraction and migration from legacy systems to LEAP, handling both technical execution and client expectations. As a Data Migration Specialist, you will be responsible for executing data migrations using proprietary tools and technical expertise. Key responsibilities include liaising with implementation coordinators to track migration progress, performing timely and accurate data transfers, reconciling migrated accounting data, and expanding migration process functionality. You will create and maintain documentation, conduct QA testing on transition software, and ensure client data sets are complete before migration. You will run migration tools for applicable legacy systems, verify successful data import into LEAP, and reconcile time, client funds, and office balances against legacy data cutoffs. Client-facing responsibilities include keeping clients updated on migration progress, reviewing transition reports, and discussing roadblocks. You will also support the Partner Network by keeping them informed of tool improvements, assisting with migration questions, and ensuring quality delivery. Required skills include advanced proficiency in MS SQL Server (queries, joins, scripts, stored procedures), hands-on ETL experience with source-to-target field mapping, and expertise in Excel for schema validation and cleanup. You need working knowledge of legal trust/client and office accounting, familiarity with legal terminology (matters, unbilled fees, disbursements), and strong project management abilities. Exceptional attention to detail, data accuracy, and confidence in direct client communication are essential. Experience with legal practice management systems is desirable.
