The Customer Engineering team is a cross-functional group of technical problem solvers focused on driving customer outcomes across the full commercial lifecycle. As a Customer Engineer, you own the pre-sales technical journey from discovery and technical fit assessment through competitive positioning, demo, and proof of concept (POC). You establish whether Mixpanel is the right technical fit before committing to a POC, and when you do run one, you design it to be immediately actionable by the Delivery Engineering team. Key responsibilities include: - Lead technical discovery to establish prospect business challenges, technical environment, and qualification before POC commitment - Design and deliver tailored, research-backed demos connecting Mixpanel capabilities to specific business outcomes - Establish technical fit and confirm the prospect's stack is a match - Own competitive technical positioning against Amplitude, PostHog, and warehouse-native alternatives - Run tightly structured POCs with defined success criteria, named focus metrics, and handoff packages for Delivery Engineers - Return post-sale for cross-sell and strategic expansion requiring new technical evaluation - Partner with Account Executives on deal strategy, technical objection handling, and expansion planning - Stay close to Delivery Engineers to understand production realities You should have 3–5+ years in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or technical pre-sales at B2B SaaS companies. Technical foundation in data analytics, event tracking, APIs, data warehouses, or adjacent domains is required. You have commercial instinct, demonstrated ability to run structured POCs with measurable outcomes, and clear communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences. Competitive knowledge of the analytics landscape is valuable. The ideal candidate is humble, hungry, smart, and accountable.
