Exa is building a search engine for the AI era, having raised $250M Series C at a $2.2B valuation. The company powers AI agents, Fortune 500s, and AI labs with its Search API, disrupting an industry unchanged since the 1990s. The team of ~100 is based primarily in San Francisco and includes talent from Harvard, MIT, Meta, Google Research, and YC.
As Senior Manager of Customer and Partner Marketing, you will transform Exa's customers and commercial ecosystem into the company's most powerful go-to-market asset. Today, customer proof points live scattered across Slack threads and sales calls; your role is to systematize this into a predictable engine of credible customer evidence.
You own two interconnected domains:
CUSTOMER EVIDENCE ENGINE: Build the pipeline converting happy customers into published proof—case studies with quantified results, quotes, logo rights, and technical deep dives for developer audiences. Success is measured by volume of published, sales-usable evidence per quarter and coverage across priority verticals and use cases.
REFERENCE AND ADVOCACY PROGRAM: Develop and maintain a tiered reference bench of customers willing to take calls, speak on stage, and vouch in deals. Own the customer advisory board and design incentives that keep advocates engaged. Success is measured by reference request fulfillment time and the share of late-stage deals with a reference attached.
COMMERCIAL PARTNER MARKETING: Own the marketing side of commercial partnerships—cloud marketplaces, agencies, consultancies, and technology partners with co-sell motions. Execute joint launches, co-authored content, co-branded assets, marketplace listings, and partner-sourced demand. Success is measured by partner-influenced pipeline and live co-marketing motions with named partners.
VOICE OF CUSTOMER: Systematically capture what customers say (win/loss themes, adoption blockers, competitive mentions) and route insights to Product, PMM, and leadership. Success is measured by whether positioning and roadmap decisions cite this input by name.
PROOF LIBRARY AND ENABLEMENT: Own the single source of truth for customer proof and partner assets, organized so a new AE can find the right story in under a minute. You produce raw material; PMM for Enablement packages it into pitches.
AI-FIRST WORKFLOW DESIGN: Design and deploy AI-powered workflows (Claude, call-recording mining, enrichment, drafting pipelines) that compress time from customer conversation to published asset. Automate any step that runs manually more than twice.
You do not own technical ecosystem integrations, demand generation, core product positioning, partnership sourcing, sales enablement, lifecycle marketing, or field events—those sit with Developer Relations, Revenue Marketing, Product Marketing, Partnerships, and Field teams respectively.
Success looks like: predictable cadence of published customer evidence with real numbers; sales self-serving references and case studies; every priority vertical with credible public customer stories; named co-marketing motions live with strategic partners; Product and PMM treating your voice-of-customer synthesis as required reading; customers saying yes to advocacy because the program gives them something back.
