Salary: USD 196,000 - 294,000 / annual
Duolingo is seeking a Creative Director to lead the creative vision for brand building and marketing efforts across the organization. Reporting to the CMO, you will lead a team of creative leaders and oversee all creative work in the Marketing function, ensuring alignment with company strategy and measurable business impact.
Key responsibilities include:
- Driving creative excellence across all marketing channels (social, video, experiential, partnerships) from insight through execution
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of creatives while maintaining high standards for craft and narrative
- Partnering with Brand Marketing to shape strategic briefs and deliver culturally resonant, high-impact campaigns
- Collaborating with Growth Marketing to build a performance marketing creative studio for global user acquisition
- Managing the global agency roster and ensuring consistent creative quality and standards across markets
- Providing clear creative feedback and decisions across all project stages
- Setting creative direction and codifying brand standards while inspiring the organization with industry trends
You bring significant experience leading creative teams in brand/marketing roles, with a proven track record of shipping integrated campaigns at scale. You excel at connecting creative decisions to strategy, KPIs, and ROI, and have demonstrated success turning insights into iconic, culture-driving ideas. Strong communication and stakeholder influence skills are essential, as is experience managing agencies and external partners across multiple markets.
Exceptional candidates will have experience with IP-led brands, global creative leadership across regions, a portfolio of world-class work that drives earned media, deep familiarity with social media and creator ecosystems, and experience establishing clear creative operating mechanisms with cross-functional partners.
