Platzi is the largest technology school in the Hispanic world, serving over 7 million students and 4,000 companies. The company's mission is to make Latin America a technology superpower by training individuals and organizations in AI, Cybersecurity, English, Programming, and Leadership through online education.
As Course Director, you own educational initiatives end-to-end: courses, live classes, events, and product collaborations. You decide what gets taught, who teaches it, how it's produced, and how it reaches students. You manage 2–3 initiatives in parallel at different stages, often on completely different topics. You determine launch timing based on market demand and data, ensuring each course lands where it matters most.
This is a creative, hands-on role—not an academic one. You treat courses as products: form a hypothesis about what will work, run it, analyze results, and iterate. You prioritize formats and narrative over traditional syllabi.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own initiatives end-to-end: from identifying what's worth teaching through production, launch, and post-launch optimization
- Design the learning experience (formats, dynamics, projects) that drive completion
- Run experiments on courses and eliminate what doesn't work, even your own ideas
- Select, onboard, and coach teachers while maintaining quality standards
- Collaborate with Engineering to improve the platform for better student learning outcomes
- Own key metrics: starts, enrollment, completion; leverage AI to accelerate production without compromising quality
Platzi operates mostly remote with key offices in Bogotá, Medellín, and Mexico City. The company offers equity participation, extended parental leave, professional development resources (books/Kindle), hardware support, annual in-person team gatherings, and online mental health support.
Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in education, digital content, or creative production
- Demonstrated track record of creating successful content; ability to show examples and explain why they worked
- Product mindset: frame initiatives as hypotheses and identify what would disprove them
- Creative judgment with digital-first thinking, obsessive attention to detail, and ability to distinguish engaging formats from superficially polished ones
- Comfortable using AI tools (LLMs, copilots, automation platforms) in daily workflow
- Experience coaching teachers, creators, or talent with empathy and high standards
- Fluent in both English and Spanish
