xAI is seeking a Telecommunications Counsel to support Starlink's operations in Europe and Africa. Starlink is a revolutionary satellite constellation delivering low-latency broadband internet globally. In this role, you will serve as the primary legal advisor to the Starlink business on telecommunications and internet service regulations across Europe and parts of Africa. You will analyze complex legal and regulatory landscapes, identify compliance risks, and communicate findings to business and technical teams to enable sound decision-making. Your work will directly support telecommunications licensing and other regulatory approvals across multiple jurisdictions. Key responsibilities include: - Advising the Starlink team on applicable laws, regulations, and policies impacting the business in Europe and Africa, with particular focus on telecommunications and internet services - Analyzing legal and regulatory risks and communicating them clearly to enable compliance decisions and support licensing efforts - Monitoring legal and policy developments relevant to Starlink's business - Interfacing with governmental agencies on regulatory, consumer protection, and law enforcement matters This is an in-office position based in London, England. The role requires availability for extended hours and weekend work as needed. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years of professional experience with regulatory compliance matters in the telecommunications industry, specifically related to broadband and/or satellite services - Juris Doctor, Bachelor of Laws, or equivalent degree from an accredited institution - Active license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Fluency in French and/or Portuguese - Knowledge of telecommunications business and regulatory issues outside the U.S. - Prior experience managing legal issues for a high-growth multinational company
