Anthropic is seeking an experienced Corporate Development leader to drive strategic transactions in life sciences and biotech. The role focuses on sourcing and executing acquisitions, investments, and strategic partnerships with AI-native life sciences companies. You will partner directly with Anthropic's leadership, research, and product teams to shape the company's strategy in this sector, grounded in Anthropic's commitment to safe and beneficial AI. Key responsibilities include defining and executing Anthropic's corporate development strategy in life sciences, covering acquihires, tuck-in acquisitions, minority investments, and strategic partnerships. You will build and maintain a target pipeline across AI-native companies in drug discovery, clinical development, regulatory and medical writing, lab automation, and healthcare data infrastructure. The role requires leading end-to-end transaction processes from sourcing through diligence, negotiation, signing, and integration. You will partner with research, product, engineering, and go-to-market teams to assess technical, scientific, and commercial value of opportunities. Sector-specific diligence responsibilities include scientific and data validation, regulatory posture assessment (FDA, EMA, GxP, 21 CFR Part 11), data privacy compliance (HIPAA, GDPR), quality systems, and IP evaluation. You will assess build/partner/buy tradeoffs and competitive dynamics against incumbents and other frontier AI labs. Additional responsibilities include structuring and negotiating complex deals with earnouts, milestone-based consideration, and licensing arrangements; building financial models and valuation analyses for life sciences businesses; driving post-transaction integration with focus on talent retention and regulatory compliance; building relationships with founders, life sciences VCs, pharma/biotech teams, and academic institutions; presenting strategic recommendations to executive leadership and the board; and supporting partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, CROs, and research organizations. The ideal candidate combines deep life sciences domain knowledge with technical fluency in AI and a proven record of closing complex transactions. You understand R&D, clinical, and regulatory workflows, can distinguish durable AI-native businesses from thin wrappers, and can assess targets' science, data, and compliance posture rigorously. You care about AI safety and Anthropic's mission to build helpful, harmless, and honest AI systems.
