The Corporate Accounting Manager will play a critical role in building and scaling Sonar's growing finance organization. This is not a traditional close-and-reporting role; instead, you will help design processes, strengthen controls, develop and implement AI tooling, and partner cross-functionally to ensure financial accuracy as operations grow in complexity.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules across core balance sheet and P&L accounts
- Lead process improvement and transformation initiatives that strengthen reporting quality, efficiency, scalability, and controls
- Identify and implement opportunities to use automation, technology, and AI-enabled solutions within management reporting processes
- Mentor and develop accounting team members and serve as a trusted resource across the broader finance organization
- Assist with ongoing audits and liaise with external auditors
Sonar operates across global hubs in Austin, Bochum, Dubai, Geneva, London, Singapore, Tokyo, and Washington D.C. The Austin office operates on an in-office culture with three anchor days (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays) to create collaboration rhythm. Candidates must be genuinely based in Austin; relocation support is available for the right candidate.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in software industry
- Direct experience designing, building, and deploying AI agents
- Big 4 accounting firm background preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit readiness
- Proficiency in accounting software and Excel
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA or similar certification preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work on-site, collaborate across teams, communicate clearly, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
