Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company building rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems. The communications team translates complex space technology into compelling stories for global audiences.
In this role, you will own Rocket Lab's social media and digital communications strategy and execution. You'll build and maintain an aggressive editorial calendar aligned with missions, program milestones, and strategic goals. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading execution across X, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Bluesky, subscriber newsletters, and emerging platforms.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan, execute, and optimize content across all digital channels for broad audiences spanning B2B, B2G, talent candidates, investors, and space enthusiasts
- Capture, package, and publish live coverage for launches, hot fires, spacecraft deployments, trade shows, and major company milestones in real time
- Partner directly with engineers, mission operators, and production teams to translate complex technical achievements into sharp, accessible content
- Monitor platform analytics, spot trends, experiment with AI tools and new formats, and optimize ruthlessly for reach and engagement
- Ensure every post, caption, clip, and graphic maintains Rocket Lab's quality standards, technical accuracy, and distinctive brand voice
- Challenge industry norms in aerospace communications with fresh technology, unconventional distribution strategies, and bold creative experiments
- Execute hands-on work daily: drafting, shooting, editing, and driving projects from concept to publication. You will live tweet countdowns, visit the factory floor to capture stories, write posts, and publish yourself
- Support on-site activations, events, and dynamic launch schedules across time zones with flexibility to travel
This is a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where rockets launch at 3 AM, mission milestones happen in real time across multiple time zones, and the unexpected is routine. You will work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and thrive in a culture that values extreme ownership, decisive judgment, and relentless execution.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of experience running high-growth, high-engagement social channels and digital campaigns for fast-moving brands
- Proven portfolio with direct evidence of killer campaigns you built and executed personally
- Experience in both organic and paid social campaigns and strategies; deep understanding of effective paid social and digital campaign rollout for specific business needs
- Flexibility to travel and move fast; ready to support on-site activations, events, and dynamic launch schedules across time zones
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to distill complex ideas into short, witty, punchy copy with zero fluff and flawless attention to detail
- Extreme ownership mindset; you spot what needs doing, hunt for answers, pick up a camera, or open a draft and get it done
- Calm, decisive judgment when breaking news hits or launch countdowns are ticking live
- Experience in aerospace, defense, motorsport, or tech industries
- Authentic obsession with space exploration and technology
- Hands-on photo/video capture and mobile editing skills
- Start-up environment experience
