Saronic Technologies is developing autonomous maritime platforms and seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and validation of power systems for ruggedized autonomous vessels operating in extreme marine environments.
You will own the full lifecycle of electrical power generation, distribution, and conversion architectures—from requirements and specifications through prototype validation and field trials. Key responsibilities include:
• Design, specify, and validate power generation, distribution, and conversion systems for autonomous maritime platforms
• Develop system requirements and specifications for power subsystems and components
• Create engineering drawings (one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams) and perform detailed analyses (EPLAs, short-circuit calculations, voltage drop, harmonic analyses)
• Evaluate and select components for reliable operation in harsh marine, shock, vibration, and thermal environments
• Conduct trade studies benchmarking systems from automotive, defense, and mining industries
• Design system architectures optimizing reliability, maintainability, and environmental protection
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, and autonomy teams on system integration
• Support prototype builds, troubleshooting, and commissioning through lab and dockside/at-sea trials
• Author design documentation including specifications, trade studies, test plans, and integration standards
• Mentor junior engineers in power system fundamentals and ruggedization techniques
Ideal candidates bring proven experience designing or specifying electrical power systems for marine, automotive, defense, aerospace, or mining vehicles, with expertise in system integration, environmental qualification, and manufacturability. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with AC power distribution (120/240/480V), generator controls, fieldbus protocols (Ethernet, CAN, RS485), reliability analysis tools (FMEA, FTA), electrical safety standards (UL, CE, ABS), and autonomous system architectures.
This is a hands-on, design-driven role at the intersection of innovation and field performance, requiring both deep technical expertise and collaborative problem-solving across disciplines.
