Apex manufactures satellite buses at scale for the commercial space industry, combining software, vertical integration, and hardware designed for manufacturing. The company enables earth observation, communications, and other critical space-based services.
The Contract Manager will support the Legal Department in managing the full lifecycle of Apex's contracts. Reporting to the Director of Legal, this role works closely with Business Development, Mission Management, Supply Chain, and Finance teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drafting, reviewing, and managing a broad portfolio of government and commercial agreements (MSAs, subcontracts, teaming agreements, NDAs, purchase agreements, service agreements) with counsel assistance
- Administering contracts from intake through execution, performance, modification, renewal, and closeout
- Serving as liaison between internal stakeholders and external customers, suppliers, and government counterparts to resolve contractual issues
- Maintaining internal contract databases and records with key dates, parties, obligations, deliverables, and scope
- Tracking contractual deadlines to ensure timely performance and compliance
- Developing and maintaining contract templates, playbooks, and standard terms; recommending process improvements
- Supporting proposal and bid activities by reviewing solicitation documents and flagging negotiation points
- Performing special projects as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in contract management, contract administration, or related field
- Understanding of government contractual regulations (FAR/DFARS)
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, legal studies, or related discipline
- Experience drafting and reviewing commercial and government agreements and forms
- Ability to facilitate work across teams, functions, leadership levels, and with customer/supplier contacts
- Ability to manage multiple contracts and competing priorities in fast-paced environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal and professional skills
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in satellite manufacturing or related industries (aerospace, defense, high-tech)
- Familiarity with FAR/DFARS
- Contract lifecycle management (CLM) software experience
- Export compliance or procurement experience
- Paralegal certificate, JD, or relevant credentials (CFCM, CCCM)
