CreativeX is building a platform for creative control in an AI-first marketing world. The company has spent over a decade powering creative decisions for major brands and is now looking to establish thought leadership that articulates its differentiated point of view on the future of marketing.
This is a senior editorial role focused on creating flagship content for CMOs and senior marketing leaders at the world's largest advertisers. Rather than volume-driven content, the emphasis is on fewer, higher-impact pieces that change conversations in the boardroom.
Key responsibilities include:
• Writing original, opinionated long-form content (essays, reports, research) aimed at C-level marketing audiences, measured by engagement and sharing rather than publishing volume.
• Developing a small number of defensible arguments around AI and creative production, creative effectiveness, brand governance, in-housing, and creative economics—and pursuing them consistently across formats to establish CreativeX as the authoritative voice.
• Partnering with data and product teams to transform proprietary creative data into original research, benchmarks, and evidence-backed thought leadership that competitors cannot replicate.
• Setting the editorial standard for all senior-facing content across the organization, including reports, keynote narratives, executive bylines, and high-stakes campaign copy. Acting as the final quality gate.
• Designing content as a system rather than a service desk. Owning intake, prioritization, and workflow for requests from Product Marketing, Demand Gen, Field, and Customer Marketing teams. Managing freelance, agency, and in-house support to protect time for original writing.
Requirements:
• 7–10 years of writing experience for business audiences, with a portfolio of published long-form work demonstrating depth and quality.
• Proven ability to write for C-level readers (CMOs, marketing leaders, or equivalent senior audiences in other categories), with specific examples of pieces aimed at senior decision-makers.
• Strong command of writing craft: structure, argument, economy. Ability to transform messy internal opinions into clear, defensible theses.
• Experience turning data, research, or studies into compelling narrative (reports, benchmarks, indices, original research).
• Strong interviewing skills; ability to engage senior executives and move past talking points.
• Fluency in the marketing, brand, agency, media, creative production, or martech landscape—or a demonstrated ability to become fluent in complex categories quickly.
• Editorial judgment; willingness to reject work that would hit metrics but damage credibility.
• Experience directing other writers, freelancers, or agencies, with comfort using editing as a form of leverage.
Nice-to-haves include journalism or publishing background, experience building thought leadership functions from scratch, familiarity with enterprise sales cycles, experience with owned media (podcasts, newsletters, annual reports), and knowledge of creative technology, adtech, martech, or marketing analytics.
