Oyster is a global employment platform that enables companies to hire, pay, and manage talent across 60+ countries. Founded in 2020, the company is distributed globally and has been recognized as a top WorkTech company by TIME and Statista, a Newsweek Great Startup Workplace, and a G2 Leader across multiple categories. The company is also B Corp-certified. This role is a senior individual contributor position (no direct reports) focused on setting Oyster's company-wide editorial narrative and thought leadership strategy. You will operate as an AI-first functional lead, designing and governing AI systems for research, brand voice, fact-checking, source verification, content repurposing, and quality evaluation. Key responsibilities include: defining long-term editorial and category strategy across Marketing, executive leadership, Product, People, Legal, and customer-facing teams; establishing narrative positions, evidence standards, and consistent language; owning a multi-year editorial roadmap linked to company strategy; architecting reusable AI content mechanisms and governance frameworks; setting the operating model for executive publishing; turning proprietary employment data from 180+ countries into original research that shapes external conversation; connecting editorial decisions to company growth, customer trust, and pipeline; and mobilizing senior stakeholders, freelancers, agencies, and subject-matter experts without formal authority. You will be the final quality bar for voice, accuracy, evidence, and taste across human- and AI-produced content. The scope is intentionally broad: managing narrative across a live audience library, newsletter, podcast, and leadership team publications. You will measure leverage through throughput, cycle time, cost, adoption, quality, and business impact, evolving systems quarterly. The role requires 8+ years in content, editorial, or brand journalism with senior ownership of brand narrative or thought leadership at a B2B technology company. You should have evidence of setting a company or category narrative that changed decisions and earned external authority. A portfolio demonstrating work that earned attention through citations, quotations, debate, or organic sharing is essential. Demonstrated AI-first practice beyond drafting—including agents, custom workflows, evaluation, QA, governance, and team adoption—is required.
