Salary: CAD 128,000 - 188,000 / annual
Affirm is seeking a Compliance Manager to own end-to-end compliance advisory for the Affirm Card program. In this role, you will make independent, risk-based compliance decisions across card marketing, onboarding, disputes, and remediation, partnering directly with Product, Engineering, and Operations throughout the development lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own compliance advisory for the Affirm Card program, including card marketing, checkout, onboarding, wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay), disputes, and servicing
- Apply sound judgment under EFTA (Reg E), TILA (Reg Z)/CARD Act, and UDAAP to navigate novel regulatory questions
- Review and approve Affirm Card marketing, disclosures, and UX to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Lead root-cause analysis and remediation for Card compliance issues through to sustainable closure
- Partner with Compliance Testing, Legal, and Risk to prepare for and support regulatory exams and bank partner audits
- Maintain and contribute to the Card program's compliance risk assessment and control inventory
- Develop and maintain compliance training and reference materials specific to Card regulatory requirements
- Serve as the go-to compliance expert on new and evolving Card features, surfacing risk early in the product lifecycle
Affirm is a remote-first company. Most roles can be done from almost anywhere within the country of employment. New hires will be invited to attend an in-person onboarding experience.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in a compliance advisory role within financial services with a Bachelor's degree (6+ years with a Master's degree, or 3+ years with a PhD, or equivalent)
- Meaningful experience on card and payments compliance
- Compliance certifications a plus
- Deep working knowledge of EFTA (Reg E) and TILA (Reg Z)/CARD Act as applied to card products
- Familiarity with TISA (Reg DD) and UDAAP
- Hands-on experience with card network rules (Visa, Mastercard) is a big plus
- Demonstrated track record of operating independently in ambiguous, fast-paced environments, making sound, risk-based decisions with incomplete information
- Experience owning issues from root-cause analysis through sustainable remediation
- Experience advising and building credibility with Product, Engineering, and Operations stakeholders on card, lending, or payments programs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-directed with strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Inquisitive and proactive in identifying problems and proposing practical, business-aware solutions
