Anthropic is seeking a Communications Lead to drive communications strategy across France, Italy, and Spain, based in Paris. This is a first-in-market role where you will be the on-ground communications voice, building Anthropic's brand and advancing our AI safety mission with public audiences, institutional stakeholders, and technical communities. You will report to the Head of EMEA Communications and own the full communications strategy for the region, translating Anthropic's global momentum, research leadership, and product innovation into locally resonant strategies. Key responsibilities include: leading corporate communications to establish Anthropic as one of the world's most admired companies and a genuine economic force in Europe; partnering strategically with go-to-market teams to consolidate Claude's leadership among enterprises and demonstrate how our responsible AI safety approach builds trust with regulated-sector decision-makers; developing public affairs communications that shape a positive future for AI in the region, working with the Policy team to highlight AI's transformative impact on science, education, and the public sector while navigating sensitive conversations around sovereignty, copyright, and regulation; building and maintaining relationships with journalists, creators, and influencers shaping AI discourse in the region; advising on communications and media training for Anthropic spokespeople and client representatives; and structuring team operations and agency support to scale our narrative. You bring approximately 10–12 years of communications experience, ideally in internal roles at AI companies or high-growth tech firms. You have genuine passion for AI and care deeply about safe development of transformative AI systems. You have strong media relations expertise, particularly direct experience working with French journalists. You understand the European AI ecosystem—the companies, founders, investors, journalists, and policymakers driving the debate. You have led international communications programs for US-headquartered tech companies with significant experience in France, Italy, or Spain. You manage senior stakeholders well and deliver sharp, actionable counsel to executives. You are fluent in French and English at minimum; Italian and/or Spanish proficiency is a plus. Additional strengths include direct communications experience at AI companies, high-growth startups, or research labs; an established network among key voices in AI debates across France, Italy, and Spain; complementary communications experience in financial services, healthcare, or science sectors; and understanding of EU AI policy dynamics.
