Kaizen Labs is a government technology company founded in 2022 that replaces legacy federal systems with modern software. The company has grown 35x in revenue this year and serves dozens of federal agencies, with software expected to reach over 100 million Americans. Kaizen has raised $35 million from top-tier investors including NEA, a16z, and Accel.
As Communications Lead, you will own Kaizen's external narrative and media strategy. You'll manage major announcements end-to-end—federal contract awards, product launches, partnerships, and funding rounds—from planning and embargo through coverage and follow-up. You'll serve as the primary media contact, building relationships with reporters covering federal technology and defense, and directing the PR agency on pitching, materials, and timelines.
You'll develop integrated campaigns combining earned, owned, and paid media, including ad buys, sponsorships, and placements, with clear ROI reporting. You'll write in the founders' voice across op-eds, long-form posts, social media, and speaking materials. You'll run communications for events and conferences, from executive dinners and stakeholder briefings to launch events, positioning leadership on high-impact stages. You'll also partner with the Head of Federal Strategy & External Affairs on outreach to congressional offices, committee staff, administration stakeholders, and industry associations, ensuring brand consistency across the website, collateral, and all channels.
This is a hands-on role requiring direct execution—you write releases, brief reporters, and book rooms yourself. Success is measured by getting the right story in the right outlet, not press release volume.

- Eligibility to obtain a Secret clearance
STRONG CANDIDATES MAY ALSO HAVE:
- Active Secret clearance or higher
- Hill, committee, or agency public affairs office experience with knowledge of authorizing and appropriations; ability to register as federal lobbyist is a plus
