Etched is building custom hardware for AI inference, combining chip design, systems architecture, and manufacturing. The company is Series A-backed and staffed by leading engineers focused on delivering best-in-class throughput and latency for frontier model inference.
You will be a founding member of Etched's Communications team, responsible for producing deeply researched technical writing that explains complex AI infrastructure concepts to engineers, customers, and the broader industry. This is a high-impact role that shapes how the world understands Etched's technology and vision.
Key responsibilities include: researching and writing long-form technical analysis on AI models, inference, compute architecture, and AI infrastructure; developing original points of view on industry developments; analyzing model releases and technical announcements to identify strategic implications; owning writing for major product launches and company milestones; ghostwriting for leadership; collaborating directly with engineers to translate technical insights into compelling narratives; creating customer case studies and technical briefs; producing content for X and other technical communities; developing supporting visuals, charts, and benchmarks; and proactively identifying important stories worth covering.
Ideal candidates have exceptional writing ability with demonstrated experience producing substantive long-form technical work, research, or analysis. You should have strong research skills, the ability to develop original arguments from technical data and primary sources, and the technical aptitude to quickly master topics across AI models, inference accelerators, distributed systems, and infrastructure. You'll need strong editorial judgment, the ability to interview subject matter experts and extract key insights, and familiarity with ongoing technical conversations in AI. Experience as an engineer, researcher, technical writer, journalist, analyst, or investor covering deeply technical subjects is valuable. A background in computer science, electrical engineering, machine learning, distributed systems, or semiconductors is a plus. The role requires independent ownership from initial concept through research, drafting, editing, and publication.
