AKASA is a generative AI company transforming healthcare revenue cycle management. This role serves as the clinical translation layer between product and engineering, requiring deep expertise in Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) and healthcare revenue cycle operations.
You will work cross-functionally with R&D, product, and engineering teams to translate complex clinical scenarios into clear, actionable requirements. The role involves direct customer interaction to understand local clinical practices and ensure product-market fit. You'll design and conduct digital experiments using PDSA methodologies, develop revenue cycle training specifications, and refine product development with both internal teams and client partners.
Key responsibilities include analyzing clinical cases and database structures independently, managing proof-of-concept exercises with clients, developing internal tooling, and managing resources for project-related work. You'll interface regularly with physicians, nurses, administrators, and billing professionals to ensure the AI solution aligns with real-world clinical workflows.
The ideal candidate has a nursing background (RN required) with CCDS certification, 5+ years leading CDI or coding departments, and experience in both concurrent and retrospective CDI review across inpatient and outpatient settings. Strong analytical and research skills, QA/documentation expertise, and current AHIMA, AAPC, or ACDIS credentials are essential. This is an independent contributor role with future management growth opportunities.
AKASA has raised over $205M from top-tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz. The company has achieved 20x revenue growth since launching its AI-native product suite in 2024, with customers including Cleveland Clinic, Duke, Stanford, and Johns Hopkins representing $120B+ in net patient revenue.
