Tempus is seeking a Clinical Account Executive for Oncology based in the Indianapolis area. The role focuses on driving strategic business expansion and collaboration with major U.S. cancer centers, top 20 oncology practices, key opinion leaders, and academic medical centers within the territory.
Key responsibilities include: structuring detailed strategic plans for acquiring and retaining clients; maximizing client billing and contracting opportunities; implementing laboratory services agreements with healthcare institutions; collaborating with internal sales teams (VP, RSD, DSM, SAM, GL) to achieve company objectives; identifying and developing partnership opportunities between prospective oncology clients and Tempus; promoting compliance with molecular information tools; analyzing competitive landscape and market trends; monitoring sales performance; developing comprehensive territory business plans with budgets and goal-setting; and representing Tempus culture to internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of direct account management experience in molecular diagnostics with proven performance exceeding expectations, plus 3-5 years working with major cancer centers, oncology GPOs, large health systems, and oncology practices. Required skills include consultative selling ability, executive-level engagement (CEO, COO, CFO), deep understanding of payor and reimbursement environments in oncology/diagnostics, strong knowledge of molecular diagnostics and oncology therapeutics, excellent negotiation and customer service skills, strategic account planning expertise, proficiency with Microsoft Office and Salesforce, and advanced communication/presentation abilities. A B.S. in life science, biology, business, or marketing is required (MBA preferred). Frequent travel (>50%) throughout the territory is expected. The role demands integrity, respect, confidentiality, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and critical deadlines.
