Anduril Industries is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the technical execution of Fury, a high-performance unmanned aircraft system during its Engineering & Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase. This is a leadership role on the Air Dominance and Strike (AD&S) team, where you will serve as the technical authority and ultimate problem-solver for one of Anduril's most critical defense programs.
You will own the complete technical baseline and lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team spanning aerodynamics, structures, guidance/navigation/control (GNC), propulsion, avionics, and software through detailed design, system integration, and verification. Key responsibilities include coordinating prototype fabrication and assembly, resolving engineering challenges during the build process, and leading a comprehensive test campaign including ground testing, simulation-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) integration, and developmental flight testing.
Your role requires making critical technical trade-offs across all aircraft disciplines, managing system design and architecture, and ensuring airworthiness and safety as the technical authority. You will drive root cause analysis and implement solutions for issues discovered during integration and testing, while partnering with manufacturing engineering to ensure the design is production-ready (DFM/DFA) and supporting transition to low-rate production.
Required qualifications include experience as a Chief Engineer, IPT Lead, or senior technical leader on a full air vehicle development program, with deep hands-on experience leading multi-disciplinary teams through at least one major EMD phase. You must have a proven track record taking complex aircraft systems from design through build and successful flight testing, with strong technical foundation across multiple core aircraft disciplines. Experience with developmental flight test, DoD or advanced development aircraft programs, and eligibility for U.S. Secret security clearance are required. Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or related field is required.
